The short version
- We keep what the app needs to work: your account, your learning progress and your purchases.
- No ads, no tracking, no third-party analytics. We don’t sell your data.
- Delete your account in the app at any time, and your data goes with it.
Who we are
PreWatch is made by Stanislav Nevmyvaka, an independent developer, who is responsible for your data. Write to hello@prewatch.app about anything in this policy.
What we collect
- Account. Your name and email address from Sign in with Apple or Google. If you use Apple’s Hide My Email, we only get a relay address.
- Learning. Your English level and level test answers, the films and series you study and mark watched, the words you know or are learning, your review schedule and your streak.
- Title requests. The films and series you ask us to add.
- Purchases. When you buy Premium, the App Store sends us the transaction: the product, purchase and expiry dates, and transaction IDs. We use it to unlock Premium on your account. Apple takes the payment; we never see your card.
What stays on your iPhone
- Translations of meanings into your language, made by Apple’s on-device translation.
- Your daily review reminder, which your iPhone schedules.
- App settings such as appearance.
What we don’t do
We don’t show ads. We don’t use third-party analytics or advertising tools, we don’t track you across apps or websites, and we don’t sell or share your data.
How we use your data
To run your account, build your word lists and reviews, show your progress, unlock Premium, answer your emails and decide which titles to add next. We do this to provide the app you signed up for, and because we have a legitimate interest in keeping it working and improving the catalog.
Who processes it for us
- Supabase for sign-in and the database that stores your account and progress.
- Vercel to host the PreWatch server the app talks to, and this website.
- Apple for Sign in with Apple and App Store payments.
- Google for Google sign-in, if you choose it.
They handle your data only to provide their service to us. Their servers may be outside your country.
How long we keep it
As long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your account and learning data are removed from our database. Apple keeps its own records of App Store purchases.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it: write to hello@prewatch.app. You can delete your account yourself in Profile → Settings → Delete account. If you live in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
PreWatch isn’t made for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, write to us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
